How to use this tool
1
Upload and Secure
Start in the "Lock Video" tab. Click the upload zone to select the video you want to protect. Our tool supports all major formats including MP4, WEBM, and MOV.
2
Create Your Secret PIN
Enter a strong PIN and confirm it in the second box. This PIN is the only key to your video. Because we prioritize total privacy, we do not store this PIN—so make sure it’s something you can remember!
3
Encrypt and Save
Click "Encrypt & Save." Our engine will process the file locally and generate a new file with the extension .sb.vid. This file contains your video, but in a completely unreadable, encrypted state.
4
Share or Store Safely
You can now share this .sb.vid file on WhatsApp, Telegram, or email. Even if someone intercepts the file or looks at the receiver's phone gallery, they will only see a generic "data file" that cannot be played.
5
Unlock and Watch
To view the video, simply go to the "Unlock & Play" tab, upload the .sb.vid file, and enter the correct PIN. Our built-in secure player will decrypt the stream in real-time, allowing you to watch the video without ever saving an unencrypted copy back to the device gallery.
We have all experienced that heart-stopping moment — handing your phone to a friend or family member to show one photo, only for them to start swiping through your entire gallery.
When it comes to truly private videos — whether they are personal memories, sensitive work documents, important recordings, or any confidential visual content — the standard gallery lock on your phone often falls short.
Our Video Locker gives you complete control. It transforms your video into a strongly encrypted .sb.vid file that remains completely invisible and unplayable to anyone who accesses your phone’s gallery or file manager, including shoulder surfers, nosy siblings, or curious family members.
The tool uses military-grade AES-GCM encryption combined with PBKDF2 key derivation (100,000 iterations + unique salt). Your chosen PIN is converted into a high-security cryptographic key, and the video is scrambled into raw data that no standard video player or gallery app can recognize. Without the exact PIN and the SutraBase decryption engine, the file is simply unusable.
At SutraBase, privacy is our core principle. Unlike other video lockers that force you to upload your files to a cloud server, our tool runs 100% client-side in your browser. Every encryption and decryption process happens locally in your device’s RAM — your video never leaves your device, never travels over the internet, and never touches our servers. Even we cannot access your content. This gives you the power of professional encryption software with the simplicity of a web app.
When to use this tool?
Many people want to share private videos with trusted individuals, but worry that someone else — a parent, sibling, or friend — might accidentally or intentionally open the file while using their phone. With our Video Locker, you can send the video as an encrypted .sb.vid file via WhatsApp or any messaging app. The file cannot be previewed or played by any standard video player. Only the intended recipient can open it by visiting sutrabase.in and entering the exact PIN you share with them. This gives both parties full control and peace of mind.
Beyond personal use, the tool is highly effective for professional and sensitive data protection. Journalists, lawyers, content creators, and business professionals often handle confidential videos or important recordings. Locking these files ensures that even if the phone is lost, stolen, or accessed by others, the content remains strongly encrypted and unviewable.
The Video Locker is also excellent for preparing files for cloud storage. Before uploading any sensitive video to Google Drive, Dropbox, or any other service, encrypt it first with our tool. If your cloud account is ever compromised, the intruder will only find encrypted data that cannot be opened without the PIN and our decryption engine.
In conclusion, the SutraBase Video Locker is designed to give you complete control over your private videos in today’s digital world. We combine military-grade AES-GCM encryption with a simple, user-friendly interface — all running 100% client-side in your browser. No uploads, no sign-ups, no tracking, and no data collection.
Whether you are protecting personal memories, important recordings, sensitive work material, or any confidential video, our tool helps you share and store them securely. Lock your videos, share with confidence, and stop worrying about unauthorized access.
Frequently Asked Questions
Because of our extreme privacy model, the PIN cannot be recovered. We do not store your PIN or your video on any server. The encryption key exists only in your mind. If the PIN is lost, the data inside the .sb.vid file remains permanently scrambled.
Our "Unlock & Play" mode is designed for viewing only. It uses a secure "blob" stream that doesn't automatically save to the gallery. While no system can block every possible screen recording, the file itself remains locked in its .sb.vid state unless they have the PIN.
Yes! You can attach the encrypted .sb.vid file as a "Document" in WhatsApp. The receiver then just needs to download that document and open it using the SutraBase Unlocker. It’s the safest way to send private clips.
Since the encryption happens in your browser's RAM, the limit depends on your device's memory. Most modern smartphones can easily handle videos up to 200MB-500MB. For very long 4K videos, we recommend using a desktop browser with more available RAM.
We change the extension so that Android and iOS systems stop recognizing the file as a "Video." This prevents the phone from trying to generate a thumbnail or showing the video in your "Recent Media" list, ensuring total invisibility.
